This blog is about my dream of becoming a children's book illustrator. I worked for 7 years as a 2D animator and story artist, and I loved my work. I mean, I REALLY loved my work. I would run to work because I was so excited about the prospect of drawing all day. When I had my children I became utterly enchanted by children's books. I am studying an MA in children's illustration and this blog is to chart my progress, my thoughts, desolation, and inspiration.

First attempt at mono printing
I have no idea how to clean a roller, washing up liquid did not cut it. I have ended up with a house full of black rags......maybe I need white spirit!
No! Vegetable oil…put some veg oil on newspaper then roll your roller across and the paint will break down - once it's broken down then you can use soap and water if you wish (put the soap on first - again this breaks down the paint). Also works on the surface that you used to roll out - mirror/glass whatever. Put some veg oil and break down the paint. There's also an environmentally friendly cleaner out there called Zest it! It's expensive but I use it and veg oil and no nasty smells from white spirit...
